First Christian Church Brings Vocational Training to Zambia

RecycloCraftz is a fair trade vocational, literacy, discipleship training ministry founded in 2008, by Tracy Murray, Louisville resident, while she was living in Zambia. Widowed, unemployed and orphaned women, men and youth create handcrafts and sewn items primarily from up-cycled materials for sale mainly in the US. Now, nearly 10 years later, Tracy intends to return to Zambia to grow and expand RecycloCraftz outreach efforts. First Christian Church was pleased to provide a Wholeness Grant to RecycloCrafts for the purchase and installation of a solar battery backup system to provide power to the sewing machines used by the artisans to create unique products. The need for this solar powered system was immediate due to the 4-5 hour black outs that occur daily due to drought level rainfalls.

By teaching and nurturing hands-on trade skills, academic learning and a Biblical based relationship with Jesus Christ, the residents of Kamanga, Zambia are gaining leadership skills and experiencing transformational life changes. The artisans continually grow in confidence as they step out and envision a different future for themselves and the ones they care for. RecycloCraftz is making an educational, economic and eternal difference in the lives of 30 artisans, their families and the orphans they care for.

The wholeness grant used to fund this ministry was made possible through your faithful financial support of our church and its ministries and help fund a variety of efforts to make our world a better place.
