FCC Supports Youth with a Mission

Youth with A Mission (YWAM) is a non-profit missions organization with locations all over the world. YWAM is designed to train people over the age of 18 to become disciples of Christ through a six-month program called Discipleship Training School (DTS). YWAM's vision is to know God and make God known.

During a DTS, students will spend three months learning about who God is and who they are in God, and how to share the Gospel. Then they embark on a two-month outreach to another country where they will share the Gospel and practice what they have learned about being a disciple of Jesus. This ministry teaches and trains young and old how to be a disciple of Christ. Students of the DTS can then choose to take more training classes with Youth with A Mission, join as full-time or part-time staff, or apply what they have learned at home through school or work.

In 2018, First Christian Church of Louisville awarded Chealsea Allen, an FCC Youth Group alum and a missionary with Youth with a Mission, Wholeness Ministry Grant funds to support her full-time missionary work abroad. These funds are used to pay for rent, food, transportation, bills and airfare.

Chelsea served for three months in Durres, Albania and while there, learned more about working in a team and improved her DTS leadership skill. Following her time in Albania, Chelsea went on to staff and lead a DTS at a new base in Denmark with students from all over the globe, including the United States, Wales, Germany and Denmark. Chelsea and her students have practiced street evangelism, preformed skits in schools, and worked to know God and making God known. Chelsea has enjoyed mentoring her students and is looking forward to the next phase in their training, onsite mission work in Papua New Guinea where the students hope to demonstrate how living out the Gospel as they live and work with the locals.

The wholeness grant used to fund this ministry was made possible through your faithful financial support of our church and its ministries and help fund a variety of efforts to make our world a better place.
