FCC Provides Scholarship for Innovative Summer Camp

“Sowing a seed is the only way we really know the sun is working"

~Braylee Breed, 2nd Grade

Sowing Seeds with Faith is a Louisville-based private tutoring service with tutors ranging from JCPS teachers to JCPS retirees to current college students. Sowing Seeds provides the highest caliber of educational support to students of K-12 in every subject. Sowing Seeds with Faith particularly excels in math, reading comprehension, and black history. The Sowing Seeds with Faith mission is to "prepare diverse youth academically and socially for the adverse moments in life by instilling accountability, expectations, structure, and faith” and their vision is to enrich the youth consistently with exposure and opportunity that will create a model that perpetuates a cycle of success in education and careers within a unique educational institution.

Sowing Seeds with Faith was officially established in February of 2017. The foundation of the program was built on the hard work of collaborative efforts in 2015 when the concept was initially identified. For the last three years, Sowing Seeds with Faith has provided out of school enrichment for over three hundred youth across the greater Louisville and Southern Indiana area. The program has been able to actively engage the youth both academically and socially. The social component has been presented through the mentoring opportunities of Sowing Seeds with Faith.

In 2018, a First Christian Church Wholeness Ministry Grant was awarded to provide 9 students with scholarships to attend the Sowing Seeds with Faith summer camp. These funds allowed 9 children to experience the resources and the enrichment, both socially and academically, that the summer camp offers, as well as an opportunity to connect with and love their peers. The goal of the summer camp is to change these children’s lives by giving them an experience they wouldn’t otherwise have and prevent summer academic loss for underprivileged children in Louisville.

The wholeness grant used to fund this ministry was made possible through your faithful financial support of our church and its ministries and help fund a variety of efforts to make our world a better place.
