FCC Children Provide Care Kits for Children Receiving Chemotherapy

Every Sunday morning, the children of First Christian Church engage in some form of outreach ministry.

Recently, they decided to provide care kits for children receiving chemotherapy.

Each of the kits included items to help with side effects of chemo such as chapstick, hand sanitizer, tissues, mints (nausea), gum, ring pops. They also provided activity items to pass the time while undergoing treatments such as notebooks, crayons, and stickers. Finally, they included comfort items like fuzzy socks, hats, scarves, and pillowcases.

The children of our church were prepared for this project by being asked to remember a time when they felt sick in order establish empathy and the response was phenomenal. They shared stories and immediately felt connected to the kids they are now working on a service project for. When asked if they thought they could make 50 bags in a month and the first response was "Would it be okay if we make more than 50?"

Talk about a movement for wholeness in a fragmented world!

Please take a moment to watch the video above where you will see the kits being assembled as well as hear from two of our young ministers talk about the experience.

The wholeness grant used to fund this ministry was made possible through your faithful financial support of our church and its ministries and help fund a variety of efforts to make our world a better place.
