A New Year

Stephen Ministry:

Christ Caring for People

Through People

As we think about taking down the Christmas decorations, look for places to put away those opened gifts from under the tree, and maybe even write a few thank you notes, we begin to realize that the new year has arrived. It is 2020, a new year, a new decade.

For many of us, the past month may seem a blur of joyful times shared with loved ones. We may have welcomed the chance to do all the things we traditionally do to celebrate Christmas. Hopefully, we also spent some quiet, peaceful times while we held the birth of God’s Son close in our hearts. We may have spent time thinking of Sunday’s sermon or placed special ornaments on our tree or listened to carols while writing notes on cards to those who were distant from us.

The lighting of the Advent candles each Sunday reminded us of the wonders of our faith — hope, peace, joy, and love. It isn’t always easy to hold on to these feelings, though.

As our church puts the Advent candle holder back into storage for another year, let us store these feelings within our hearts well into 2020. May we all feel moments of hope, peace, joy, and love.

And if you or someone you care about is struggling with facing this new year, please call our church office to see if a Stephen Minister can help ease the challenges.

Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace

at all times in all ways. The Lord be with you all.

2 Thessalonians 3:16
