First Christian Makes Art Alongside Residents of Christian Care Communities

On Sunday, April 9, 2017, 35 children, youth, and adults from First Christian Louisville participated in a Lent-themed service project at Christian Care Communities. With a campus located in downtown Louisville, Christian Care Communities is Kentucky’s largest faith inspired, non-profit provider of senior living communities and long-term care.

Volunteers from FCC Louisville worked with residents at Christian Care Communities on three separate art murals to be displayed in the three worship spaces across the Christian Care Community campus: The Chapel House, The Friendship House, and the Christian Health Center. We also got to deliver over 400 Easter Cards, many of which were made by our children at FCC. Kaitlin Pepper, a youth from our church, also enlisted the help of students at her school to help make Easter cards for the residents.

We had a wonderful time interacting with the residents and each other, and we are excited to have engaged in an art project with the residents that represent who they are. May the new murals hanging in the three worship spaces at Christian Care Communities be a continuous reminder of the wonderful afternoon we spent together expressing faith through art.
