FCC Youth Group Increases Service Work in Our Community

At the beginning of each youth group year, First Christian Church Associate Minister for Youth and Young Adults, Jerry McBroom, surveys the youth to ask how they feel we can best spend thier time together as a group.

What would help them grow in their faith?

What is God calling them to do together?

How can we be the best stewards of the limited amount of time they have together?

This year their answer is ambitious and faithful.

The youth of FCC expressed their desire to be the hands and feet of Christ in our community by serving others as often as possible together. It's ambitious, but our youth expressed their desire to spend more of our time together serving in our community and less time meeting in the youth space for discussions.

Since we don't have a vehicle onsite that will accommodate our numbers, the youth group applied for a wholeness grant to provide transportation that will allow them to charter a school bus for each service project they do off-site.

Some examples of the ministries they have done include:

  • Cleaning a local park.

  • Wheelchair, walker, and bus cleaning day at Christian Health Center

  • Painted interior of the Center for Women and Families

  • Represented the Center for Women and Families in Harvest Homecoming Parade

The wholeness grant used to fund this ministry was made possible through your faithful financial support of our church and its ministries and help fund a variety of efforts to make our world a better place.
