FCC helps Sow Seeds with Faith

by Rick Tipton

Sowing Seeds with Faith's mission is “to engage youth academically and socially in the Greater Louisville Area in mastering developmental challenges via educational expectations, accountability, structure, and faith.” Sowing Seed's vision is to enrich the youth consistently with exposure and opportunity that will create a model that perpetuates a cycle of success in education and careers within an unique educational institution.

Every summer morning Sowing Seeds dedicate 3 hours of academic enrichment to close the current achievement gap that has plagued Louisville's inner city youth. During this 3 hour block, the program focuses on filling in the gap of some missed concepts and principles from the previous academic year, and preparing students for the upcoming academic year. The curriculum used by Sowing Seeds is centered on advancing students in the following areas: math, reading comprehension, financial literacy, and black history.

First Christian Church of Louisville was so pleased to partner with Sowing Seeds with Faith again this year and provided grant funds to take black and brown scholars on an Historically Black Colleges & Universities College Tour experience to Atlanta for 3 days, from July 28th-July 30th. The group visited 5 schools over a 3 day period.

The wholeness grant used to fund this ministry was made possible through your faithful financial support of our church and its ministries and help fund a variety of efforts to make our world a better place.
