FCC Partners with Cribs for Kids to Provide 50 Safe Sleep Kits
Every year in the United States, more than 3,500 infant deaths occur due to accidental suffocation, asphyxia, or undetermined causes during sleep.
The mission of Cribs for Kids® is to prevent these deaths by educating parents and caregivers on the importance of practicing safe sleep for their babies and by providing Graco® Pack ‘n Play® portable cribs to families who, otherwise, cannot afford a safe place for their babies to sleep.
A wholeness grant from FCC, which was matched by another donor, has provided 50 Safe Sleep Kits for low-income families in Louisville. Each of these kits includes the following:
- A Graco Pack 'n Play Crib
- A fitted sheet with a "safe sleep message."
- A Halo Sleep Sack
- A Phillips Soothie Pacifier
- Safe Sleep Educational Material and DVD
- One Children's Book
Each Safe Sleep Kit is personally delivered and parents are given safe sleeping instructions for their child through a program at the Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness.
What a great way to care for God's little ones!
