FCC Louisville Supports Missionary's Efforts in Haiti and the Dominican Republic
Andrea Ragsdale first went to the Dominican Republic in the summer of 2008 - in only a week she fell in love with the island and the people who lived there.
Before she left, she told her GO Ministries Team Facilitator, "I'll be back!"
Little did she know that summer of 2015 God would call her to serve on the island while she was leading a High School Youth Mission Trip. Andrea moved to Santiago, Dominican Republic in May 2016 to serve as the Director of Internships for GO Ministries. This summer, she oversaw more than 30 interns serving on the island of Hispaniola.
The interns assist with construction projects, children's ministry, capturing photos and media for teams, and in our medical clinic, helping to build relationships with North American team members and Local Leaders.
With as many as six teams on the island each week (many at capacity in their vehicles) and no vehicle herself, Andrea realized the challenge of being able to serve alongside of the interns as well as support them as they were serving with their teams. Andrea desperately needed a reliable form of transportation in order to effectively operate, but on a missionary's salary purchasing a car was not possible.
However, through the generosity of First Christian Church of Louisville, Andrea was able to find and purchase a 2004 Jeep Liberty that fit the bill. Now she can support her interns and their teams wherever they may be on the island.
