FCC Appoints Medical Advisory Task Group

The Discipleship Team, which is part of the Board of First Christian Church, has appointed a Medical Advisory Task Group.

The purpose of this group is to offer advice and guidance for returning to onsite worship and other activities as safely as possible.

The task group is made up of members of our worshipping community that are practicing medical professionals. They include:

• Stephanie Copeland, BSN, Cardiac Cath Lab, Jewish Hospital 

• April Fiel, BSN, Hosparus Health 

• Mark Head, MD, Internal Medicine, Clark Medical Group, Jeffersonville, IN

• Zachary Gilbertson, DMD, Private Practice, Madison, IN

• Lori Scales, MD, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Primary Care Norton Medical Group, Mt. Washington, KY

• Margaret Simpson, RN, Critical Care Unit, ICU for Covid-19 Patients, Norton Audubon Hospital, Louisville, KY

• Gail Sprigler, DNP, MSN, RN, Robley Rex VA Center, Chief Learning Officer, Covid-19 Incident Command Operations Division

• Jenny Zimmerman, LATATC, Athletic Trainer, University of Florida

Based on the recommendations given at this team's first meeting, the Discipleship Team voted to delay returning to onsite worship and other activities until the restrictions mandating that social gatherings be limited to ten or few people are lifted. At that time, the decision to re-open will be re-evaluated.

The team will be meeting in the near future to discuss plans for the first phase of our re-opening.

While we all miss worshipping in our sanctuary, we are committed to balancing the desire to return with the health and safety of our worshipping community and our staff. We are so grateful to have a team of medical experts that are willing to help us achieve this goal.
