First Christian Joins Interfaith Build

First Christian Church has partnered with Habitat for Humanity of Metro Louisville and other people of faith from the Christian, Jewish and Muslim communities of Louisville to come together in an interfaith effort to build a home for a young Muslim family that fled war-torn Sudan three years ago to make a new life in America. As stated at the Ground Blessing, “loving our neighbors and loving God are commonly shared values of all three faith traditions”.

First Christian was happy to provide two Wholeness Grants to Habitat for Humanity! The first provided build team t-shirts for the volunteers who came together to participate in the build, including many FCC members. The second was for the build itself and provided the needed construction supplies.

Ali, Slma and their three boys, ages 6, 4 and 2, who have also worked hard on their new home, will soon become first-time homeowners!

Owning and living in our own home will ensure that our boys have a bright future. We feel so grateful for this opportunity. Our life in Sudan, during the genocide, was in a constant state of worry. There were times when we lost hope for our future. Moving to the United States, having our third son, and now our dreams of providing our boys with a stable, safe home... it means the world to us. We can finally take a deep sigh of relief.

The wholeness grant used to fund this ministry was made possible through your faithful financial support of our church and its ministries and help fund a variety of efforts to make our world a better place.
