FCC Supports Disciples of Christ Hurricane Relief
In September 2019, Hurricane Dorian, a Category 5 storm, stalled over the northern islands of The Bahamas. Damage to the islands of Grand Bahama and Abaco was incredibly severe. By the time the storm had passed a day later, the destruction was immense. As of September 6, approximately 13,000 homes had already been reported destroyed. Week of Compassion, the relief, refugee, and development mission fund of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), began working to send help


FCC Builds More Beds for Louisville Children
Every year in December, First Christian Church hosts their annual Build a Bed project. FCC members and friends will come together after services on Sunday, December 8, 2019 to participate. In each of the past three years, FCC built over 25 beds (30 in 2017 and in 2018!) for children in Louisville who do not have beds of their own. FCC Grows Love in Community Garden
Every Sunday this fall, as members and visitors entered First Christian Church, they were greeted with a bountiful harvest. Tomatoes and peppers in beautiful reds and greens were available to all to take and enjoy. First Christian Church was happy to provide a Wholeness Ministry Grant for the supplies needed to grow the First Christian Church Community Garden again this year! The beds are available to the community and anyone who would like to utilize one is welcome to do so.


Spreading the Good News Across the Globe
First Christian Church of Louisville has supported Operation Christmas Child, a shoe box ministry of Samaritan’s Purse, for many years. The mission of Operation Christmas Child is to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to needy children around the world by sending a message of hope and love in the form of a shoe box full of small gifts. The Russell Neighborhood, in Louisville, KY was known in the 1940’s “Louisville’s Harlem”.
