Brian Gerard, Senior Minister
Brian started his ministry at First Christian in September of 2002. He has previously served churches in Oklahoma, Connecticut, and Alabama. Brian graduated from Yale University Divinity School in 1997 where he met his wife Carrie, who is also an ordained Disciple minister. While at Yale, Brian was awarded prizes recognizing his promise for church leadership and outstanding preaching. He has also recently completed a two year fellowship that recognized him as one of the outstanding future leaders of the church. Brian has published one book entitled, “Common Passages: Devotions for Seminarians by Seminarians (Chalice Press)” and continues to write and produce curriculum for use at First Christian. Brian and Carrie have two children: Ethan and Graham.

Jeanie Ash, Associate Minister
Jeanie Ash has been serving the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) since 1989. She has been the Associate Minister at First Christian Church since 1994. Jeanie is a graduate of The University of Louisville School of Music and has been a professional musician since the age of 18. She and her husband, Dan, who also sings and plays bass in the Worship Band from time to time, formed the popular music group “Peaches” and was voted “Best of Louisville” for 2 years in a row. They have performed with many national groups such as The Doobie Brothers, the late Ricky Nelson, Neil Sedaka, Bobby Vee, The Shirelles, Gary Puckett and the Union Gap, and the Glenn Miller Orchestra to name just a few. She especially enjoys singing contemporary Christian music and instilling a love of music in others.
Jeanie's primary areas of ministry include: Senior Adults and playing keyboard and singing in our worship band.

Jerry McBroom, Associate Minister
Jerry McBroom has been involved in ministry for the past 25 years. For 11 years, he was the drummer with the popular Christian rock band BRIDE. He has counseled and shared the gospel with thousands of people all over the world. He has ministered in the United States, Brazil, Costa Rica, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Holland, Switzerland, and Canada. BRIDE is considered one of the leading hard rock Christian bands in the world, garnishing 16 #1 songs and 4 prestigious Dove Awards. Jerry has had the opportunity to see countless people come to know Jesus Christ through his music and ministry. Jerry has served as youth pastor at First Christian Church since February of 2000. He has taken youth on numerous mission trips, regularly organizes service projects, and hosts youth meetings every Wednesday evening. He encourages youth to find relevance and meaning in the gospel amidst today’s culture, and strives to show how Biblical principles are relevant to the lives of young people. Jerry became Associate Minister of First Christian Church in January, 2004, and now works with young adults and small group ministries along with his ministry to youth. Jerry is the drummer for FCC’s awesome worship band, First Light. Jerry resides in Clarksville, Indiana with his wife Claudia, three sons Jacob, Josh, John Matthew, and daughter Grace.

Pamela Pettyjohn, Associate Minister
Pamela was called to be an Associate Minister at First Christian in October of 2011. She has been working with children and other church ministries since she was in high school, in a variety of different church settings and denominations. Additionally, she has over 18 years of experience working with children and their parents as a certified teacher in both public and private schools in four states. Pamela earned her Bachelor’s Degree at Ball State University in Muncie, IN, and an M.Ed from The University of South Carolina in Columbia, as well as graduate credit from UofL and Bellarmine. Pamela has chosen her life verse from John 13:34-35, where Jesus says, “I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this, everyone will know you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.’” She clearly loves children, has a heart for building relationships, and has a vision for ministry to both children AND to their families. Pamela lives in Louisville with her husband Max and son Andrew.

Phil Copeland, Music Minister
As Music Minister here at FCC, Phil directs our mixed-voice ensemble, Disciples’ Chorus. He also sings in and leads our worship band, First Light. First Light is composed of keyboards, bass, guitar, drums, percussion and 15 singers. First Light has recorded one Christmas CD and is scheduled to release their second CD in Fall of 2007, consisting of original and covers of contemporary Christian songs. Phil Copeland is a three time Emmy award-winning composer and has composed over 400 cues for ESPN’s
SporstsCentury, the series that celebrates the greatest athletes and most interesting personal stories in sports.
SportsCentury won consecutive Emmy awards in 2001 and 2002 in the highly competitive "Outstanding Edited Sports Series/Anthology" category. Phil received Emmys for his original music compositions for the series. In 1995 he received an Emmy for his contributions to the CBS Soap Opera, “Guiding Light”, which won “Outstanding Music Direction and Composition for A Drama Series.” In addition to the Emmy awards won, he has been nominated on two other occasions, one for the post score for PBS’s one hour special, “Who Will Teach for America?” and the other for “Eagles Over the Gulf”, a four part series of one hour documentaries for The Arts and Entertainment Network. His other credits include network themes for ESPN Classic, ESPN Classic’s “Reel Classics”, a weekly prime-time sports movie series, ESPN Classics “RoadShow”, IBM, The Kentucky Derby Museum, KFC, The Kroger Company, The University of Kentucky, Kodak, and Revlon, as well as themes for television and radio stations in the United States.

Debbie McCune, Director of First Kids
Debbie directs our award winning early childhood development program and after school ministry called “First Kids.” First Kids ministers to over 100 children and currently has a three star rating in the Stars for Kids program.
